7 June, 2010 - We are proud to announce that Imaxeon Pty Ltd has been awarded a 2010 Australian International Design Award in the Medical and Scientific category.

The Australian International Design Awards, a division of Standards Australia, is recognised by the Commonwealth Government and the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design [ICSID] as Australia’s peak design assessment and promotion body, and for its important role in fostering a culture of design and innovation in Australia.

In keeping with Standards Australia's peak status as the national standards body, the Australian International Design Awards sets an international benchmark of design excellence and quality in manufactured goods.

The Assessment Criteria for the award included Innovation, Visual/Emotional Appeal, Functionality, Quality of Manufacture, Human Factors including Ergonomics, Semantics and Safety, Environmental Sustainability, Product Design and Principle Function.

The complete development process that brought the Salient CT Contrast Injector to the market was undertaken in Sydney, Australia within the ISO 13485 standard for Medical Device Manufacture.

The Salient will be marketed in Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Asia, Japan and Latin America.

Features of the Salient CT Injector include:

Ease of use

Safe, efficient operation is a key aspect of the Imaxeon Salient. Features that contribute to usability include:

  • Self check on startup.
  • Simple ‘bayonet’ style loading of syringes
  • Auto-fill of syringes
  • Intuitive arrangement of major elements and graphical user interface
  • Colour, touch-screen user interface

Cordless

The Imaxeon Salient uses an internal power supply and a wireless remote, allowing the product to be used without any external cables. This provides flexibility regarding movement and positioning of the device. Elimination of cables also minimises trip hazards within the workplace.

Maneuverable

The self-contained pedestal with its compact footprint, large-diameter castors, and grab handle ensure the product is easy to manoeuvre – whether from one room to another, or within the workspace. The Head has tilt and swivel adjustment to facilitate filling syringes and ensure optimum positioning relative to the patient.

Touch screen

The majority of settings on the Salient are accessed via a high-resolution colour touch screen. The Graphic User Interface (GUI) was developed in consultation with users to streamline common procedures whilst still allowing customisation of protocols. The icon-based display facilitates use in international markets by reducing use of written language. The use of a touch screen also allows for a large variety of inputs (including alpha-numeric) whilst maintaining unbroken, easy-to-clean surfaces.

Serviceability

The Imaxeon Salient is designed to have a low operating cost over its lifetime and to be readily serviceable. High quality electromechanical components are used in the assembly. The product can be set up by user upon delivery – does not require factory installation.
